Marzi and Joseph had their ceremony and reception at the Chesapeake Beach Resort, where I hadn't played in years.  They've done a ton of work on the property, and it really is a resort now - and right on the banks of the Chesapeake Bay.  The weather was maddening, it rained on and off constantly for several hours.  Marzi really wanted an outdoor ceremony on the deck next to the marina, but every time the staff (and I) would get set up and ready to go, it would start raining again.  I think I had to move my gear five times over the course of an hour, and eventually we had to cut our losses and do the ceremony underneath the covered patio in front of the hotel.  It actually turned out great, everyone stayed dry and their ceremony was heartfelt and a lot of fun.  None of their guests seemed to be bothered by the rain delay, and once we moved inside for cocktail hour everyone hit the bar and the party began.

I had the pleasure of working with photographer Jason Phillips from Roman Grinev Photography, we always have a good time working together.  The bride and groom were really into taking pictures, so we extended cocktail hour to give them a little extra time.

This wedding was a perfect example of why it's so important to hire a professional wedding DJ.  Factoring in the rain delay before the ceremony and the extended time for pictures during cocktails, we were well over an hour behind in the schedule before dinner even began.  I worked with the catering staff and Jason to re-engineer the order of events, ensuring that dinner didn't have to wait so long that it would be overcooked or cold.  Marzi and Joseph were great, and just rolled with the changes.  A few tweaks to the schedule gave them their full dinner, all of their formalities, and still left plenty of time for dancing.

I had a lot of fun playing for them and their crowd, it was a fantastic start to the weekend.  I hope the two of you have a great life together, thanks for including me in your wedding plans!!
