Today, we are proud to present an interview with Carla David, owner of Carla David Design. We've used Carla's services ourselves, and it is such a pleasure to learn more about her and her business. Carla is definitely one of the best when it comes to creating fantastically designed invitations, favor labels, signage, and much more! Here she is - give it up for Carla!
How did you get started in the wedding business? I fell in love with paper in elementary school. My best friend and I would make stamped note cards and sell them to neighbors to raise money to attend summer camp. It was that love and passion that ignited with my passion for entertaining and all things details. I have to pinch myself that I can do what I love every day. What do you do when you are not working? I love traveling, entertaining friends and family, baking, reading and you can find me hanging out with friends in the local coffee shops.
How would you describe your approach to weddings? It's all about my clients and their needs, likes, personalities, they pretty much inspire the designs we create for their wedding or event.
What inspires you in your work? My surroundings, experiences from my travels worldwide and of course the number one inspiration are my clients.
What do you find the most rewarding about your job? The smile on the bride's face when we pull everything together and design the vision she had in her head.
What's the one thing you wish everyone knew about you or your business? It's not just about the invitations (although those are important) its about all the details that style your big day.
What do you think sets your company apart from other invitation designers? We focus on the whole package not just the invitations. We design the favor labels, bags, boxes, signage for the get-away car, large seating charts, welcome baskets, anything. We can pretty much design all the details from beginning to end of your event.
What do you love about weddings? Family, celebrating a happy moment, the new beginnings, the special moments with loved ones.
What's the best piece of advice you can give to couples planning a wedding? When looking for your wedding invitations and details come to us and start the process early. There are so many things we can do and finalizing the look and feel can help when looking for the other details like flowers, linen and rental items.
Open mic, final thoughts: Your wedding day is all about the new beginning with your significant loved one... Don't let the small stuff ruin that moment. And of course... style your event with paper!
[Evan] Thanks, Carla -- It's always such a pleasure to work with you and it's obvious that you have a passion for your craft. Thank you so much for taking the time to interview with us!
