Looking for MyDeejay?

Hopefully you have been looking for our company, MyDeejay, and found this page because you were using a search term that was not precisely our company name. Of course, we’d still be the same great company regardless of what people called us but, for the purposes of disambiguation, we thought it was necessary to create this page in order to help people find us. If you’re looking for the company that provides disc jockey services for weddings and corporate events in the Baltimore, Maryland and Washington, DC metro areas, you have come to the right place.

MyDeejays, MyDJs, and MyDeejays.com

We’ve seen this most commonly with people coming from The Knot, it got started with one of our brides in 2007 and seems to have become our name there. Thankfully, we rank highly if people search for “MyDeejays” or “MyDeejays.com“, so it isn’t an insurmountable problem compared to some of the other names that are used. Obviously, we’d prefer if everyone used our proper company name – and most people do once they find our website and discover the error. The confusion among people using the names MyDeejays or MyDeejays.com is likely to become worse in the near future, because a disc jockey in the UK registered that domain name before we had the chance, and is launching a branded website using “mydeejays” as the company name. Our hope is that anyone looking for our company using the word mydeejays will still be able to find this page easily enough that it won’t make much of a difference.

MyDJ and MyDJ.com

It’s perfectly understandable that people looking for our company (especially online) would choose to look for “MyDJ” or “MyDJ.com” since it’s the homophone of our company name. We would love to have the name MyDJ.com but, unfortunately, it’s lost in a sort of legal no-man’s-land inside of AOL Time Warner.  Long story short, MyDJ.com used to be owned by Spinner Networks, which operated the first popular Internet radio station back in the late 1990’s.  Eventually Spinner was gobbled up by AOL along with WinAMP (the music software) in a huge aquisition deal, and the domain (along with everything else Spinner owned) became part of AOL. We’ve tried for years to find out if we could buy it from AOL, but no one can access it because it’s still under the old Spinner account. So, it appears that MyDJ.com will never be used again, it will just be automatically renewed until the end of time (or until AOL goes under).  This has been a pretty significant problem for our company for years, since so many people have trouble finding our website while looking for MyDJ.com. We’ve even had other wedding vendors and local reception sites give couples the name MyDJ.com or put it on their vendor lists!  It is definitely frustrating for us, and not something we really considered being a problem when we started MyDeejay.com in 2003 – hopefully this page will help.

My Deejays, My DJ, My Dee Jay, My DJs, and Other Names With Spaces

Placing spaces in our company name, or a misspelling of it, is also quite common. We’ve seen this everywhere from industry contact lists to venue websites. Regrettably, this sometimes causes people some difficulty in finding us because these terms are often treated differently when searching on the internet. Some of these terms, like My Deejays, we rank highly for and therefore aren’t much of a problem. Others, such as My DJ, don’t give any results that would lead to our website. Hopefully this page will enable us to reach these customers and redirect them to this site, where they can learn all about our company and our unique way of doing business.
