DJ Chuck Nunn was a musician long before becoming a DJ, playing bass guitar for a number of successful cover bands around Baltimore. He loves the feeling of watching people enjoy the music he plays, and making the move to DJing has become the perfect outlet for that. We caught up with Chuck to ask him about his experience as a DJ and a performer, here’s what he had to say!
What is your relationship with music? What does it mean to you?
“Music is everything to me – the seasons of my life are ‘soundtracked’ by the music that accompanied every experience. Music is the one thing I’m always thinking about, even when I’m not making, sharing, or listening to it. I was that kid in high school that started my own bands and brought my guitar to school. Making music is what we do when my friends and I get together, and I’ve done my best to make music a part of every aspect of my life.”
What do you enjoy about being a wedding DJ?
“What I enjoy about being a wedding DJ is showing up and knowing that it’s going to be good time because I am prepared, I have a plan, and I know everyone is going to leave happy at the end of the night. At every wedding I do, I still feel honored to help people throw the biggest, most important party of their lives!”
What’s your favorite kind of couple/crowd to work with?
“My favorite crowds are the ones that come to dance! I really enjoy working with couples that are just as passionate as I am about making the party great for all their guests and having an amazing dance party. My goal is always to have all of your friends and family complimenting you at the end of the night on the awesome music and telling you how much fun they had at your wedding.”
What’s the best one or two pieces of advice you give to couples?
“Don’t worry about small details on your wedding day – once the day finally comes, it’s best to let go and trust the professionals you meticulously researched and hired. Also, remember to be present in each moment because it goes by really fast, and don’t forget to eat!”
What are some fun or interesting things about you that couples might want to know?
“I traveled around the world in the Navy (spoiler, it’s mostly water!). I spend my free time making music on my computer, jamming with friends on ‘real’ instruments, and taking my dog, Ozzy, for walks (he’s a good boy). I also love collecting music and finding new and creative mixes that my clients might enjoy.”
