DJ Corey Goss has been an integral part of the special events scene in Central Virginia for many years, infusing every event with his unwavering passion and creativity. We asked Corey to share a bit about his experience and approach to weddings, and here’s what he had to say!
What is your relationship with music? What does it mean to you?
“Music holds a profound place in my life; it’s the driving force behind my career and a true passion. It has taken me to stages and platforms across the country, where I’ve been fortunate to connect with people from all walks of life. Through music, I’ve had the privilege of spreading joy and happiness to countless individuals and families. I truly believe music transcends cultural barriers and unites us—it’s a universal language. I started my professional music career in 2008, and ever since, I’ve found so much fulfillment in creating memorable experiences for others through what I love most.”
What do you like about being a wedding DJ?
“I love wedding DJing because of how intimate and meaningful these events are. A wedding is such a significant milestone in a couple’s life, and it’s an honor to provide the soundtrack for their special day. Music has this amazing power to amplify the emotional connection between the couple and their guests, creating memories that last a lifetime. My passion for serving others and meeting new people is what drives me—and it’s why I give my all to make every wedding celebration unique and unforgettable.”
What’s your favorite kind of couple/crowd to work with?
“I pride myself on being adaptable, and I love working with couples from all kinds of backgrounds and cultures. For me, it’s about helping each couple create a wedding that reflects their personalities and values. I enjoy diving into their vision and making sure their day feels authentically theirs.”
What’s the best one or two pieces of advice you give to couples?
“The best advice I can give is to focus on why you’re getting married in the first place. The details will fall into place, but keeping your love and commitment at the center of it all will make the day truly special. And don’t forget to eat! I see a lot of couples who spend so much time talking and dancing and leave their plates untouched, only to be starving at the end of the night. You need fuel for the dance floor!”
Is there anything else you’d like to share about yourself?
“When I’m not working, I have a lot of different interests and hobbies! I’m very involved in my church, I’m a big fan of Shirley Temples and Christian Hip Hop, and I also have the unique privilege of being a professional wedding officiant on many of the dates that I’m not DJing. It’s such a joy to be part of these beautiful moments in different ways, and certainly a different perspective!”
