Frank’s reputation for top-notch customer service and his polished, confident emcee style have earned him numerous awards in addition to his outstanding reviews. After spending the last several years in the Dallas-Forth Worth area, Frank recently returned to Maryland to continue his DJ career where it all began. We asked Frank to share his thoughts about his DJ career, here’s what he had to say!
What is your relationship with music? What does it mean to you?
“I have loved music every since I was a kid – music is my passion and it simply motivates me. In my younger life, I enjoyed classic and alternative rock and R&B. As I have matured, not only do I still enjoy those genres but now really love many forms of country, latin, classical – you name it. My passion for all music helps me be a more effective wedding professional because I really have no bias toward any style or genre.”
What do you enjoy about being a wedding DJ?
“That’s easy – making a difference to my couples on their big day. It’s just a great feeling to do something so important for my clients every weekend. Like with any profession, I love to be paid, but unlike any other profession, being a wedding pro is part of what defines me as a person.”
What’s your favorite kind of couple/crowd to work with?
“I literally enjoy all my wedding couples because to me, no two weddings are the same. I love getting to know my clients and learning what makes them tick – How did they meet? What do they enjoy doing? What do they do for a living? What styles of music do they enjoy? Whether my couples enjoy mainstream music or something eclectic, I love the creative challenge of figuring out how to deliver exactly what they are looking for. I also enjoy diverse weddings because it introduces me to other cultures and styles of music. With so much music available on the internet, it is easy to be sure that everything my couples what played, gets played.”
What’s the best one or two pieces of advice you give to couples?
“My top suggestion is to select wedding professionals who you know have an interest in making a difference for you. There are numerous parameters that couples have to set, but when a couple has multiple 5-star professionals as part of their big day, it takes a wedding from being ‘like all the others’ to being the ‘best wedding ever’.”
What are some fun or interesting things about you that couples might want to know?
“I’m part Latin-American and grew up in Ecuador in my early childhood. Because of that, I learned to speak Spanish fluently, which is something I use as a DJ at several weddings per year. It was especially helpful when I moved to Texas a few years ago, and I gained a LOT of additional experience as a bilingual DJ and emcee while I was down there.
I am also a father of four, ages 18, 15, 14 and 9. Those kids keep me motivated and in shape – since all three of my girls play soccer, I do too because I have to practice what I preach.”
